Melbourne, Australia. Wednesday 18 January 2017. After two days of intense action, Event #5 has crowned its champion. Niall Murray triumphed in the no-limit hold’em Mix Max tournament securing an AUD$61,300 payday and his first championship ring. Murray, who hails from London in the U.K., now has more than USD$191,000 in live tournament winnings, with this result making up almost a third of that impressive total. Prize money and championship ring aside, this victory was made sweeter for Murray because it was also his first cash in an Aussie Millions event.

Melbourne Local, Robert Raymond Wins Event #1: Opening Event for AUD$320,830

Melbourne, Australia. Tuesday 17 January 2017. The first event of the 2017 Aussie Millions was a whopper which saw Robert Raymond successfully navigate the massive field to earn the Event 1 title and AUD$320,830. Raymond, a Melbourne local, bested a field which included 1,565 total entries up from the 1,320 entries the same event saw in 2016.

James Chen Ships the 2017 Aussie Millions Event #2: $2,500 H.O.R.S.E.

Melbourne, Australia. Tuesday 17 January 2017. On the third day of the 2017 Aussie Millions Poker Championship, Taiwan's James Chen won the first championship ring of the series, thanks to ANTON jewellery, taking down Event #2: $2,500 H.O.R.S.E. and walking away with the top prize of AUD$39,700 (USD$29,322) for his efforts. The tournament attracted 49 players, representing a 26 percent increase from the 39 entrants that played this event the year before.

Top Austrian Pro Thomas Muhlocker Wins Event #3: Shot Clock Shootout for AUD$40,125

After an exciting weekend of play in Melbourne, the 2017 Aussie Millions is heating up with Austrian Thomas Muhlocker taking down the third event of the series for AUD$40,125. Event #3 featured an AUD$1,150 buy-in and a fun, fast-paced shootout format that instituted a shot clock to keep the game moving. Muhlocker, who has USD$2.9 million in lifetime tournament earnings to his name leads all Austrians for money earned playing live poker tournaments and has been a regular at the Aussie Millions since 2013. He's got five Aussie Millions cashes to his name, but this is his first victory.
