Melbourne, Australia. October 2012. Due to popular demand, Crown’s Photo Finish exhibition is to be reinstalled for this year’s Spring Racing Carnival. The exhibition is a celebration of racing and style coinciding with Fashion on the Fields 50th Anniversary. New portraits of Jesinta Campbell, Ann Peacock and Tom and Hoda Waterhouse alongside 27 other portraits will be on display until Sunday 18 November at Crown Metropol.

Photo Finish is an unrivalled collection of modern images drawn from the dignitaries, prominent jockeys, trainers, breeders, owners, officials, bookmakers, racing identities and celebrities. Returning to the exhibition is Melbourne Cup legend Bart Cummings, champion jockeys Frankie Dettori and Glen Boss, internationally renowned trainers Luca Cumani, Dermot Weld and Gai Waterhouse and New Zealand breeder, Sir Patrick Hogan.

The exhibition brings together the work of leading photographers in Australia and from around the globe, each specially commissioned for the exhibition by Crown. Earl Carter, Tyler Stableford, Julian Kingma, Megan Cullen, Ellis Parrinder, Stephen Langdon, Toufic Araman, Daniel Mahon, John Tsiavis are just some of the artists that have captured these incredible portraits.

Stationed throughout Crown’s glittering level one retail precinct at Crown Metropol, the resulting series of larger-than-life, high-impact portraits illustrate a range of styles and techniques,

providing an extraordinary window to view the heroes and legends of the race that stops a nation.

Master illusionist and Australia’s Got Talent 2011 runner-up, Cosentino has announced two extra shows at The Palms at Crown during his Melbourne season from 17 until 21 October. The additional shows were scheduled by demand confirming he is the country’s most popular magician.

Cosentino launched his career at the age of 14 and has enjoyed steady success and industry embrace since his debut. After his appearance on the popular television show, Australia’s Got Talent his career has catapulted to new heights. His elaborate performances showcased some of his complicated and mesmerising magic which intrigued viewers. His alluring talents are even better live on stage and leave the audience teetering on the edge of their seats until curtain call.

Distortions is a world-class production that will distort the audience’s perception of reality as they experience this unique magical journey. The combination of incredible dexterity and intensity is sure to challenge rationale, as Cosentino performs staggering acts of mind and body manipulations.

As well as being a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent, Cosentino is a Guinness World Record holder, Helpmann Award nominee and the 2012 winner of the prestigious international Merlin Award for the Most Original Magician - a first time award for an Australian illusionist/magician.

The Palms at Crown is a multi-layered auditorium with seating for 800 people. Melbourne, Australia. September 10 2012. Crown Metropol Melbourne was named “Best Upper Upscale Property” at the prestigious annual HM Awards.

In addition, the hotel was presented with a highly commended honour in the “Best Tech Hotel” category and the hotel‟s day spa, ISIKA, was named highly commended in the awards‟ “Best Day Spa” category.

The 2012 HM Awards were hosted by HM magazine, presented by Sealy, and co- hosted by AHS, the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, Intrust Super and ISIS.

In addition to the HM Awards, Crown Metropol Melbourne‟s restaurant, Mr Hive Kitchen & Bar, was recently included in the 2013 edition of The Age Good Food Guide. The guide includes praise for John Lawson‟s finely tuned dishes, stating one of his dishes, „black and blue tuna‟ is a “top notch starter of smoky, soy-glazed yellowfin” and recommends the restaurant‟s decadent dessert bar‟s signature chocolate-bar dessert with peanuts and caramel or an elegant praline soufflé.

These accolades join a portfolio of awards, including Crown Metropol Melbourne being named Best Luxury Hotel in Victoria in the revered 2011 RACV Victorian Tourism Awards and recognition by Conde Nast Traveler‟s 2011 Hot 100 and Australian Gourmet Traveller‟s 2011Travel Awards.

Melbourne, Australia, 7 September 2012. Crown was inducted into the "Donor Hall of Fame‟ at last night‟s Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Gala Dinner. Over the past 18 years, Crown has supported the mission of RMHC to help make a difference to the lives of seriously ill children and their families.

The „Donor Hall of Fame‟ is only awarded to companies that are recognised for their extraordinary care and contribution towards the achievements of the RMHC over an extended period of time.

The RMHC Australia Board recognised Crown as a suitable recipient due to the longevity and generosity of Crown‟s support since 1994.

The honourable award was accepted by Ann Peacock, General Manager of Public Relations on behalf of Crown.
