Laneways. Art. Culture. World-class food. Melbourne is a mecca for travellers, foodies, and locals who know exactly how lucky they are. When the city comes alive at night and the lights shine bright, it’s a good thing so much of these events go late into the night.

Because in Melbourne, great food and culture doesn’t end when the sun goes down. Late night eats are available across the city – you just have to know where to find them.

Food for Melbourne Night Owls

In Melbourne, just about every cuisine imaginable can be sought out without leaving the CBD.

Late night restaurants across the city offer casual, pub-style meals, as well as gourmet options, international fare, and a little of everything in between.

Here, you’ll find meals for those who work late, those who party late, and those who enjoy the many fantastic events and shows on offer all over the city. The many options for late night eats are simply an extension of the culture of Melbourne and the people who make the most of every single day.

Crown’s Late Night Dining Restaurants

Crown, at the heart of Southbank, is deeply entrenched in the culture of eating, drinking, and celebrating. It’s here where you will find a hub of late night restaurants, each more exciting and enticing than the last.

Marmont

Marmont is inspired by the sun-drenched glamour and vibrant vibes of California, with a uniquely Melburnian twist. And it’s open noon ‘til late’ every day of the week.

The menu at Marmont is enamoured with seafood, with Latin American flavours and a touch of Filipino American style thanks to head chef, Mark Tagnipez’ own heritage. The scallop tostadas are a must, the buttermilk fried chicken is heavenly, and the pork pluma dish is something truly special.

Check out the music programme to see what’s playing late into the night on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and feast your eyes and your tastebuds on the bar snacks menu for when you’re feeling more peckish than ravenous.

Margo’s Cafe

Craving casual? Margo’s Cafe it is.

This late-night favourite is open until midnight and serves all your most loved bites deep into the evening. There’s pizza, pasta, fish and chips, pies, and even chicken parmigiana. You can dive into a plate of sushi or keep it simple with a sandwich, then wash it all down with cake or a soft serve ice cream.

You’ll find this haven of spot-hitting meals on the Main Casino Floor in the heart of the action. Keep in mind you that this is an 18+ venue.

Teak

East meets west at Teak, where the cuisine is a fusion of Asian and western flavours, making it easy to please the palates of your entire group – day or night.

Nibble on fries or spring rolls. Feast on a curry laksa or a beef burger. Treat yourself to something sweet with a banana fritter or a sticky date pudding. And ultimately, mix up your cuisines and enjoy one of the best late-night meals you will have all year.

Note that Teak is closed to the public from Friday to Sunday. Weekends are strictly reserved for Gold Rewards Members and above, making it an exclusive hub for late-night dining in Melbourne.

Baci

When you’re out late, late, it can only be Baci–open 24 hours per day.

Pick up your meal as a takeaway on your way home from a late night out or stop in after a night shift for something hot, satisfying, and speedy. Pasta and pizza are your go-to meals at Baci, or you can devour a range of popular dishes such as burgers, salads, and chicken parms.

The menu varies depending on the time of day, but you will always be able to order snacks, coffee, cakes, and gelato at any time of the day or night.

88 Noodle

Chinese cuisine done right and served into the small hours on Friday and Saturday nights. 88 Noodle is the place to go when you’re searching for something swift, satisfying, and reminiscent of the food houses of Shanghai.

The BBQ roast selection is arguably the star of the show, but the noodles and wok dishes are well worth making a midnight visit.

88 Noodle is open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, with even the 10pm closing time on weeknights a good amount of time to fit in a post-show late-night bite.

China Bar

It’s 2am and you’re craving dim sum. Make a beeline for China Bar.

This beloved local hotspot is your place to go for midnight eats, whether you’re after dumplings, the perfect sweet and sour pork, a classic fried rice, or a hearty mee goreng.

Open until 4am every night, China Bar is a vibrant, affordable restaurant in the heart of the city that will either help you keep the party going – or offer the ideal night cap after an incredible evening out in Melbourne.

A haven for food lovers at any hour of the day or night, Crown Melbourne offers the food you crave at the time you want it most. Swing by after your next night out to discover why Crown at midnight will become your new favourite Melbourne must-do.
